How to put a screenshot in a Mac window frame

  1. Paste or drop your screenshot above. The macOS frame is already selected.
  2. Choose Light or Dark to match your app's appearance.
  3. Optionally type a Title, such as the app or file name. It's centered in the title bar like a real Mac window.
  4. Set background, padding, corner radius and shadow, then Download PNG.

Why use a window frame?

A frame tells readers at a glance that they're looking at an app, and it makes cropped screenshots look deliberate. It's useful for product updates, README files, documentation, blog posts and slides.

Screenshot beautifier FAQ

Can I use the Mac frame on a Windows screenshot?

Yes. The frame works with any image. Choose the Windows frame if you'd rather match the system the screenshot came from.

Does the frame support dark mode?

Yes. Set Style to Dark for a dark title bar.

Can I turn off the rounded corners?

Yes. Drag Rounded corners to 0 for a square-cornered window.

Is it free?

Yes. Every background, frame and canvas size is free with no signup. Free exports carry a small "Made with LapwingShot" credit in the corner. The credit is part of the free tier. A future Pro option may remove it.

Are my screenshots uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser. The only things ever sent are cookie-free visit counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics, see Privacy) and an anonymous error report if something breaks (error text, browser, page, app version), never anything you type or upload.

How do I paste a screenshot?

Copy a screenshot to your clipboard (for example with Windows+Shift+S or ⌘+Ctrl+Shift+4 on a Mac), click anywhere on this page and press Ctrl+V or ⌘V.

Can I get a transparent background?

Yes. Choose the checkered "None" background. The PNG keeps transparency around the window and its shadow.

What resolution is the export?

With "Fit screenshot" the export keeps your screenshot's own pixels (up to 4096 px on the longest side). Fixed canvases export at their listed size.

Which canvas size should I use?

16:9 suits X posts, slides and YouTube thumbnails. 1:1 suits Instagram and LinkedIn feeds. 4:5 takes up the most room in an Instagram feed.
